#4 The Importance Of The Pelvic Floor & Core
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
All females across a lifespan, from the young athlete, the childbearing woman, the menopausal, and elderly woman receive benefit from physical therapy.
The scope of practice is huge – encompassing the care of women in relation to childbirth, both antenatally and postnatally, to include all health concerns of women, including incontinence, pelvic or vaginal pain, and prenatal and postpartum musculoskeletal pain.
Although one in three women will experience urinary incontinence at some point in their lifetime, the topic of women’s health physiotherapy is often still considered taboo.
In this episode, we have a chat with Francesca Ruddick, a senior therapist from Physio Down Under, Singapore’s first dedicated women’s health physiotherapy practice looking into common pelvic health concerns, including for some mommies, pregnancy and post-natal conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pelvic girdle pain and blocked milk ducts.
